Feels funny to say “Happy Day of the Dead”.…we probably don’t say so, but coming somewhere so far to this culture, and adopted ‘El Dia de los Muertos’ celebration as one of my favorites I feel like saying so.

Yesterday I walked to Fabrica la Aurora to get an art fix, but got my fix from the beautiful altars instead.…that is ART also, art of life, living and dying, and memories.

OMG…so much has happened. …Salted Herring has taken to travels.….to Xilitla get a dose of Sr. Edward James surrealism, made friends at the International Short Film Festival in SMA and in Guanajuato, attended Tedx-SMA Conference to brighten the mind ( thanks Sam!), took a long journey over Atlantic to home waters, returned to beloved Northern Pacific coast—twice, and then back to San Miguel to set up a new house.….organizing paints and canvases in the glorious third floor art studio.….♥.…happy!
Not to forget the best news of all:

Over two years ago I started this blog of mundane wanderings inspired by the ‘non-important’ cellular phone pictures I took during my daily walks with Iggy at Lower Heights in San Francisco. There was always a new window display, an interesting doorknob, a shadow a the wall, a new blooming flower, an interesting piece of street graffiti, to draw my attention.…and then a snap with a cellular phone.
I still carry that same relic from Nokia in my pocket… now with the Mexican SIM card.

the day has been cloudy…a lovely day for a long walk, and a cozy day to enjoy coffee with friends

Yesterday San Miguel residents and visitors were able to taste the most original rice recipes, prepared by the best chefs at the Fiesta Arroz, Pan y Vino. The scene was chef-hat galore, mingling with enormous paella pans, and mountains of bread and cheese, and glorious wine. T and I strolled the festival area before the doors opened to the public, but not without lovely taste of smoked provolone on the palate to wet the appetite.

After the long hot, and dry period at highlands of Mexico, we are cherishing the arrival of rainy season. We are dancing around ‘hurrah’, rain, glorious rain! I have lived in cities like Helsinki, Chicago, and Seattle where the rain is such a common visitor, that we often end up complaining of inclement weather patterns. Never could have dreamed of welcoming rain with such a cheer like I have done here. Let it rain!
